CAAI: Club Alpino Accademico Italiano

The Club Alpino Accademico Italiano, founded in 1904, is a national division of CAI, Club Alpino Italiano. CAAI has in its ranks climbers and mountaineers with a distinctive record of ascents. Its members have been important actors in the XX century alpine history: famous Riccardo Cassin, or Giusto Gervasutti (first on the east face of Grandes Jorasses), were among these.

CAAI is active on the new challenges of modern climbing/mountaineering. Among the best elements, rock climbers as Rolando Larcher, at top levels in technical climbing (Hotel Supramonte, 8b in Sardinia – new lines in Paine area, Patagonia), or mountaineers as Sergio Martini,  reknown Himalayan climber.
